iPhone OS 3.0 Update

All excited about the OS 3.0 release when I went back home yesterday after work I was really dissapointed to find out that iTunes 8.2 was released and not the iPhone OS 3.0. They were supposed to release at the same time but clearly it did not happen and the wait is still on. I have been waiting for the update the day since I bought my phone and it seems like a long wait now. With no news about the update I just have one hope that its coming soon!

South Africa the Right Choice??

With six matches of the IPL over, South Africa’s weather has already affected four matches. Rains in South Africa are ruining games in the IPL as the game keeps getting disrupted due to rain. The rain is being unfair to some teams as even though in a good position they tend to loose the game. Was it a mistake to choose South Africa over England as a venue for the IPL??

Buying a Phone?

I have been thinking of buying a new phone but with the number of phones in the market it’s a really tough choice. I have been really fascinated by touch screen phone so I had narrowed down my choice to touch screen phones. So I go to gsmarena.com which is my favorite website to checkout phones and the reviews they have got. I was shocked to see the number of touch screen phones available. There were 337 choices out of which I had to select one! This was one tough job and I did not want to go through every single phone and so I decided to narrow them down by selecting the brand I’d prefer the most. So out of all the brands available I selected 5 of them which were Apple, Blackberry, HTC, Nokia and Sony Ericsson. From 337 I was down to 58 phones but even 58 phones were way too many to see. So I had to narrow it down further and I decided the features that I would want in my phone. There were just 3 more things I wanted Bluetooth, camera and Wi-Fi other than the basic phone features. This further got the number down to 35. Out of these 35 I decided to look at the latest phones and the ones which have a good rating.

After about one hour of research I ended up bringing the list down to 2 phones. But this was going to be a tough decision for me on one had I had the iPhone 3G and on the other hand I had HTC Touch HD. Both were excellent phones and had good reviews. At this point I decided to check user reviews of both the phones. So I just googled iPhone vs. HTC HD the number of hits I got were more than 300,000!! When I read the reviews one by one and found out that iPhone was hyped unnecessarily. Features like MMS, Video recording, Video call, copy and paste were not available in the iPhone. I found that iPhone was not all that great and decided if I am going to buy a phone it will be HTC HD.

P.S. I just bought a iPhone as it was way cheaper than the HTC HD.

Bored at Work

Repeat a few times till you’re bored	Grab anything on your desk and smash your head hard. If you are still sleepy smash harder	After that move your feet and swing your body a bit like this. Do it like it’s nobody’s business and remember to smile
Move your feet and body just a bit like this…. Do it like there’s no problem at all…	And now more aggressive! Don’t bother about what others say	Let go of all your stress…	If your boss ask what you are doing, move your head slowly like this and tell them you’re dying in the office
When your boss walked off, get your colleague to join you and move your body like this. The more the merrier…	Finally, dance like a cat

IPL 2009

Cricket – A game which is played on every single street of India. Every child in India dreams of becoming a cricketer when he grows old. It would not be wrong to say cricket is worshiped in India. Last year a new version of cricket was introduced in India for the 1st time and was a super hit among the masses of the country. The first season of The Indian Premier League (IPL) started in April 2008 and ended in June 2008. Rajasthan Royals were the league winners surprising everyone as they were labeled as the underdogs and criticized for spending the least amount of money in buying players.

The IPL was a huge success as it was aimed to be set in the summer holidays when everyone usually flocks to the theatres to watch movies; this showed the Indian Film Industry the bad side of IPL with movies not doing so well which released in this period. Overall IPL created a huge impact on its followers and left them craving for some more action. With fans and followers waiting for the second season of the IPL, came a huge shock that the venue might have to be changed due to security issues especially after the attack on the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan. This was a setback for a lot of Indians who had been waiting for the IPL for a long time. England and South Africa were the two options for hosting the 2009 IPL. After evaluating both the options Lalit Modi IPL’s Commissioner announced that South Africa will host the 2009 IPL. Modi said the decision to rule out England was largely on the weather.

The schedule is still to be announced but the tournament will feature 59 matches from 18 April, with the final to be played on the 24^th of May. Matches will start at 4pm and 8pm Indian Standard Time (11.30am and 3.30pm British Summer Time) to allow for live prime-time coverage in India. As far as the venue is concerned I am sure Indians will eventually get over the change of venue and the second season would be even a bigger success than the previous one.

Friday the 13th!

All my life I have heard about Friday the 13th and I wonder is it really true that bad things happen on Friday the 13th or is it just a myth. Why are people scared of Friday the 13th? The clinical term for a fear of Friday the 13th is paraskavedekatriaphobia. 2009 is a special year as Friday the 13th comes thrice this year and two of them in consecutive months. The last time this happened was in 1998. There are many theories of why people actually fear it. But according to me if something bad is going to happen it can happen anytime and without any notification. How can a date decide if something bad is going to happen?? I feel its just a overhyped myth!

Cricket Struck by Terror!

No one thought that Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan would end like this. Never could I imagine a helicopter landing on a cricket pitch to rescue the players to safety. When I saw the news about the terror attacks just before the 2^nd test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan I was shocked to see that terror has not even left sports aside. About 10-12 gunmen attacked the bus carrying the Sri Lankan players from their hotel to the stadium. 5 Pakistani policemen were killed and 7 players were injured in this terror attack. This has made the future of cricket in Pakistan very doubtful and I don’t think any cricket team would want to tour Pakistan after such an incident.

The level of security given to the Sri Lankan players was not good enough. They could not even counter attack at the terrorists. Not even one of them was shot or captured, which shows the level of security provided. The Sri Lankan team was promised ‘presidential level’ security, but from where I see it the security provided to them was no good. The terrorists were able to escape after the attack without any difficulty.

Looking back at the incident my mind is filled up with questions. Questions such as why was there not enough security for the players? Why did the Pakistan team leave after the Sri Lankan team? Was all this planned? Who was behind it? Will this enquire end up like all the other ones pointing fingers at each other? Will cricket be the victim this time?
